Dragon Fruit Films is a Cardiff based production company, run by filmmaker Stephen Rhys Johnson, a visual storyteller helping non-profit organisations to shine a light on their values and purpose. Dragon Fruit Films works primarily within the charity, non-profit and adult learning sector, but also produces short films and music videos.
For the past twelve years, Dragon Fruit Films has been commissioned by the Learning & Work Institute Cymru, to produce all of the promotional films for Adult Learners’ Week (The largest celebration of Adult Learning in Europe) The Inspire! Adult Learners Awards, and The Inspire! Tutor Awards. Dragon Fruit Films has also produced films for (amongst others) the Welsh Government, Agored Cymru, Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales, Wales TUC, Groundworks, Place2Be, Taith Cymru, Cardiff University, Soil Association, Department of Work and Pensions, ASLEF, Diverse Cymru, Page 2 Stage Wales, Matter Of Act Theatre Company and Unison.
Stephen trained as an actor at the Oxford School of Drama, graduated with a MA (Hons) Creative Writing and Media degree from Swansea University, and completed new writer’s workshops with the National Theatre, London, at The Old Vic and Ty Newydd, North Wales. Stephen has been a finalist in the Ronald Duncan Literary Prize, Oran Mor / Channel 4 Prize, Tobacco Factory Script Space 5 and won the Saturday Shorts 2012 new writing competition. His short plays have been performed at Venue Cymru, Llandudno and the Bristol Folk House, and his collaboration with Page2 Stage Wales ‘Over Millwood’, was shown in competition at the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival.
