Pyramids of Giza

For our 30th anniversary my husband Will had made a surprise holiday booking to Cyprus which included a weekend mini cruise aboard “Romantica” to Egypt.

Once in Egypt it was a coach trip to Cairo and The Pyramids of Giza. The three marble artefacts represent the three pyramids. We went into one of the pyramids, very narrow steps down with a rope handle. What an experience that was.

Before returning onto the coaches there were locals with their camels selling souvenirs. Will had to barter with them as he wasn’t going to give the asking price. The seller was not at all happy and as the coach was pulling away was shouting and tapping on the window at Will.

Our coach was one of twelve in convoy making our way to Cairo. We had armed guards at the head of the convoy, in the middle and at the rear. Whilst on the move one of the coaches started overtaking. The armed guards then halted every coach. Very threatening with raised guns. After a lot of shouting the guards allowed us to travel on. We arrived safely at our destination in Cairo to the Grand Egyptian Museum to see Tutankhamun.
