While at a fair during my late childhood I found myself intrigued by a stall selling wooden spinning tops. The seller would make them there with a lathe and let some people try to make one themselves. After showing interest my dad bought me a spinning top with turquoise coloured rings on it. It’s a very simple item but I think that’s part of why I like it. Despite being simple it manages to be worth holding on to.
