My Grandfather Joseph Fretwell served with the 10 & 2/4 Lincolnshire Regiment. He served at the battle of the Somme & Gallipoli where he was wounded in both legs and later had both his legs amputated. I remember him walking in the garden on his wooden legs. He lived until July 1960.
