On my wrist, I always wear an old watch. It is already 23 years old. The face has some scratches, and the silver has faded a bit with time but it is the most valuable thing to me because it holds memories of a 43-year friendship.
When I first arrived in the UK, everything was new and strange. In those difficult moments I always looked down at my watch to feel close to my friend. Even though it is not perfect anymore, it still means everything to me.
Now, this watch is like a little antique. The parts of the watch may be getting old, but our half-century friendship becomes even stronger with time. It is my treasure from home, and it gives me strength here in the UK.
