Professor Dina Soeiro

Meet the Team

Dina Soeiro, co-founder of the Project, is professor at the Department of Education and Social Intervention at the Coimbra School of Education – Polytechnic University of Coimbra, Portugal. She is a member of the Executive Board of the European Association for the Education of Adults, where she fights for stable public investment in adult education in Europe and for the strengthening and broadening of adult education policies.

Dina is a co-convenor of the Transformative and Emancipatory Adult Education Network, of the European Society for Research on the Education of Adults, and is a member of the Editorial Board of ELM Magazine. As a teacher, researcher and professional, working in adult education with people, communities, organisations and political organisations, she aims to increase cooperation and learning between practices, research, training and policies.

In Portugal, she coordinates the community-based literacy Project, Letras Prá Vida, and she is passionate about educational gerontology.
With Beth John and the Project Team, she is committed to the Project’s growth, giving it visibility, and aims to involve learners, adult education practitioners and researchers, with contributions from all over the world. Dina feels this is an extraordinary opportunity to share together the power of literacy, of stories, and the people who tell them; a truly transformative adult education experience!
